at the risk of repeating something said above, Israel is a modern day crusader state. The original crusaders 'lost' when the rest of Europe lost interest (for whatever reason doesn't matter) and stopped sending manpower and money to support the crusaders. The same will happen to Israel. It's a matter of when, not if.
The only chance is the Israelis annihilate their enemies through out the middle east. I doubt anyone anywhere on this planet would stomach what that would involve.
At the same time this doesn't absolve the islamists and their attack. But its what is to expected when you keep a people for decades in an open air prison and keep turning the screws. So at one level what is happening is karma. Karma to all parties.
