October 1 and October 31 are potential flashpoint dates to note in the next quarter, the first is the National Day of the Peoples Republic of China and the second is the date for Brexit.

So far in the HK democracy tussle, we have yet to witness major strong arm tactics from China -perhaps conscious of the mistake they have made during the Tiananmen square massacre but also perhaps they would not do anything until after the Oct 1 national day celebrations. The HK democracy fight has , similar to the US-China trade war, reached an impasse and continues to be protracted and will surely impact HK growth with potential spillover to China.

No Deal Brexit is knocking on UK's door and by 31 Oct Boris the Clown Johnson will very likely leave without a deal, from the way things are progressing now, such that there is a backroom plot in the works to oust him before that date. If a No Deal Brexit eventuates, little is known about what impact this would have on financial trading (including derivatives clearance which can compromise financial markets stability) in the UK or whether we will see a seizure of sorts (a little bit like Y2K but perhaps in the end nothing at all) but it could spell the end for the United Kingdom as we know it.

All these events suggest that we are entering the next decade with potentially historical upheavals , and which is why we must all learn to thrive and progress while managing to stay out of harm's way.
