I’m not sure who thinks politicians are hard done by or need less accountability than the public sector, but Scott Morrison seems to think it is a winning argument:
Scott Morrison has ratcheted up his warnings against a powerful national anti-corruption commission, arguing handing control over to “faceless officials” could turn Australia into “some kind of public autocracy”.

Even Dominic Perrotet says Scott Morrison 'absolutely' went too far by calling ICAC a kangaroo court.

Why would a party which has shown that it could use public money to do what it likes, buying votes to retain power , fill the pockets of mates and big businesses want to have an independent body that can check its abuse of power and public accountability?

Public accountability or lack thereof by the LNP Govt should be the key driver of the ALP and other parties to drive home the biggest reason why an LNP under Scomo should not be returned. When Governments no longer held accountable to the public/people, Australia would be moving to the sort of "democracy" that many developing countries have. In those sort of democracies, their Government is the real autocrat. Media under their control (check), Blatant Misuse of Public Money including Corruption (check), Vote Buying (check) , Cultural/Religious propaganda (check), Keeping opposition weak (not yet).
