What has BHP given you over that timeframe? 29.2% (ex div)
CBA? 57.9% (ex div)
XGD? 0.6% ! Surprise?
Gold equities is great during the bull run, not Buy and Hold over time. XAU does better. Of course as I showed previously, there are some gold miners which have done incredibly well but on average which is what XGD represents, it is not good.
How do you know to buy the right gold stock? You won't. No one knew SBM turns out the way it did. But Physical Gold is Gold is Gold. Come the next gold bull run, yes onboard gold stock because then we get the multiplier. When the next Gold rally comes, it will be a sustained uptrend and you can see it clearly in the charts, like from 2019 below , even joining quarter way through, you will do very well.
