If what you are getting at is the concept of ‘Socially Responsible Investing’ - then true, there can be more than money to be gained if you are able to find a worthy cause (although I think your quote would read better as ‘Somethings go beyond money’... But I hate to tell you the bad news that if you have gold stocks in your portfolio, then you are going to have to sell them. It is nigh on impossible to consider yourself an SRI if you support gold mining. Gold mining is the cause of untold environmental damage throughout the world and it is offset by very little tangible return to humankind (other than the money itself gained by a select few...).

If you are looking for a Socially Responsible Investment stock try a company that has made money-laundering a focus of its business model; it’s tried to fill the gap that our traditional and seemingly venerable banking oligopoly failed miserably to do (see Royal Commission into banking). Still, this higher moral road of responsible investing you will undertake won’t be an easy path to travel... Expect all kinds of dirty tricks. Don't be surprised if some of these insiders are even from the very banks and instos themselves... might they even be feeding info to less scrupulous journos to aid in their nefarious shorting? Be warned, vested interest is the greatest motivator of the powerful and greedy.

    Good luck
