KEY POINTS
Mineral Resources has been hit by delays at its key Mt Marion lithium expansion project less than a week after flexing its muscle to scupper the acquisition of Essential Metals.
- Work to double processing plant capacity at Mt Marion to 900,000 tonnes a year of mixed grade spodumene concentrate was hit by problems getting workers to site and finding them beds.
- Both spodumene concentrate and battery chemical sales from Mt Marion would be at the lower end of full-year guidance along with a big jump in spodumene production costs.
- MinRes cut mining services full-year production volume guidance from 270-280 million tonnes to 245-255 million tonnes.
The Chris Ellison-led MinRes also slashed full-year production guidance for its core mining services division as contracts dry up and with new projects still in the approval stage.
