    Interesting, this strategic commercial behaviour spans themes of both a coercive monopoly and planned obsolescence.
    As a hardware manufacturer, they recognise there are business sectors that are getting cannibalised by competition through imitation.

    I'm seeing more of this emerging at a product-level like we see here with HP and a stiffening or rejection of interoperability or universal standards, and also at a macro-level, like nationalism (anti-globailisation / free trade). Interesting times.
