In the book Clear Thinking, Shane Parrish writes:
Often people think the world should work differently than it does, and when they don’t get the outcomes they want, they try to wiggle out of responsibility by blaming other people or their circumstances. Avoiding responsibility is a recipe for misery, and the opposite of what it takes to cultivate good judgement.

This excerpt, courtesy of my newsletter, is so apt.

We ought to take own responsibility for our action(s), whether not selling at the highs or buying at the top, or whether not exiting a stock that is no longer worth its price (i.e forward fundamentals less than current valuation) or holding longer a dog stock, rather than blaming others, e.g shorters, regulators, AFR, instos etc, everyone else except ourself.

    Another excerpt from the newsletter:
"Most people, I would guess, think they are investing when they are actually speculating.
For example, many people no doubt think they are investing in some high-quality growth stocks on the ASX right now. What they don’t realise is that current prices are so high they are virtually guaranteeing poor long-term returns.
    "
