China growth weakens more than expected as outlook darkens
Bloomberg
China’s economic growth fell to its worst pace in five quarters, adding pressure on Beijing to boost confidence as top leaders start a twice-a-decade policy meeting on Monday.
Gross domestic product expanded 4.7 per cent in the second quarter from the same period a year earlier, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Monday. That missed the median estimate of 5.1 per cent in a Bloomberg survey of economists. Growth in the first half was 5 per cent, in line with Beijing’s annual target of around 5 per cent.
