..just an exercise to compare Bitcoin's performance against Gold/Indices/Stocks based on 3 year period chosen between

    > when BTC peaked on 8 Nov 2021 (before its plunge to $16k) and just prior to the outcome of the US presidential election on 4 Nov 2024. This removes the BTC exuberance post-Trump victory

    -the comparison shows
    * the underhyped performance of AUD Gold
    * that BTC (AUD) performance even surpassed S&P500 and CBA (excl div)

...BTC is certainly volatile but when held over an extended time, it has proven to provide a very decent return. Of course past performance is no predictor of the future; it could be even better going forwards. But it held its ground provided one can tolerate the great volatility.

...AUD Gold and AUD BTC delivered outstanding returns over that 3 year period without one being astute in choosing what and when to invest.
    ...Why?
...1) No company management to screw things up for the company
    ...2) They survive recessions
...3) AUD is just getting lower and they provide a good hedge against our loss of purchasing power.

Ideology aside, Gold and BTC do not generate cashflows, so Mr Buffett does not like them, but they sure have produced better returns than most of our ASX stalwart mega caps. And not to mention too that even a darling stock like PLS didn't quite 'survive' that 3 year period to deliver a decent return for Buy and Hold shareholders. Why bother really with stocks?
