I've been impacted plenty of times by changes of govt in my employment. As a grant dependent researcher a change of govt often meant unemployment coming when politicians with an IQ far below mine cut research funding willy nilly. This does not change my point of view.

We have not heard much from you about all of the rorts by the Dems that Musk and Trump are finding. Millions of dollars of kickbacks from various aid programs...... This is why I say they are nearly all bad in their own way.

Are Trump/Musk creating havoc and harm to thousands of families - very much so in the short term at least. The resourceful ones sacked will soon find alternative employment just as I had to do repeatedly. But what is their long-term plan. We won't know for some time yet as we are in the early stages of the process. Is what they are doing going to help the huge and building deficit? Yes, and this can't be argued with. It always takes pain to do so.

Possibly most of all I like the DEI and wokeness problem being addressed and a return to merit based hiring. I will admit to this bias.

Are they making a long-term difference? Will the things they get right minus the things they get wrong make America better off overall? Best leaving judgement on that until we see the long-term results. We are not there yet. Nash would definitely say they are making the world less efficient but maybe the USA itself will be better off and that was what they were elected to do.
