..when tariffs go higher, in Germany imports drop, while in US, imports skyrocket as Americans make large pre-emptive purchases ahead of tariffs.
...rather than blaming other countries for running trade surpluses against the US, the President should instead consider reining in its own consumerist society for half the stuff it probably does not need.
..rather than have 20 toys they can have 2 instead, says the Prez, America was always spoilt for choices, now they are consigned to being like what some developing countries are like (fewer choices).
Good Morning from #Germany, where the trade surplus rose sharply to €21.1bn in Mar, up from €18bn in Feb. This jump was driven by a rise in exports, as businesses rushed to ship goods ahead of expected US tariffs. German exports increased by 1.1% MoM, while imports fell by 1.4%. The US was the top destination for German exports, which rose by 2.4% from Feb, as American buyers accelerated purchases to avoid potential tariff hikes. https://x.com/Schuldensuehner/status/1920376221298303096
