Shares in IDP Education were close to erasing half their value on Tuesday after the company said it expected student placements to drop by up to 30 per cent this year as global trade uncertainty hurts its enrolment pipeline.
The shares had retreated 47.9 per cent near 11am, hitting their lowest level since 2017.
IDP said policy settings in Australia, the UK and Canada had also impacted the outlook for placements.
The company downgraded its earnings guidance for this financial year and announced a firm-wide review to improve productivity and costs, owing to “policy uncertainty continuing into FY26” and the anticipated impact of its smaller FY25 enrolment pipeline.
