Trump is compromising the future of America in so many ways:
1. By attacking on intellectual institutions and the scientific community, leading to progressive brain drain and alienating the best to seek opportunities in what previously has been the magnet for the smartest and brightest
2. By alienating its allies via its trade policy, coercions and penalising foreign investment, it is compromising the attractiveness of the US dollar and risk losing its reserve currency status over time. The eventual outcome is likely to be a depreciation of the US dollar which decimates American living standards
3. Via its policies which alienate allies, it only diverts trade, cooperation of traditional allies towards China, handing over to them in a silver platter
4. By pardoning criminals and sycophants, and penalising individuals and institutions that do not share the same ideology as them, it is turning the American society into abject compliance with imposed values, anything but reflect the freedoms of a democracy and more akin to a communist regime. Except that even a communist regime does not pardon criminals. A continued decay in rule of law will be the coffin in the nail for foreign capital investments. This is why foreign capital are not attracted to emerging economies with poor rule of law and defined by corruption. By moving towards this path, America is no longer an exemplar of a nation with strong and respectable institutions.
5. By increasing US federal deficits and debt through its Big Beautiful Bill, it will lead to higher interest payments at higher borrowing rate and increasing the fragility of the US bond market, all just to hand large tax cuts primarily to the rich and wealthy
6. By creating a divided society- one (individuals & companies) prepared to bend over back to Trump including paying enormous sums for a steak dinner will receive favours while those on the wrong side would be incarcerated. There is no more one country for all
7. By adopting the control playbook from China, it seeks to establish a centralised watchful eye over individuals and companies via a database - big brother system to target non-compliance and DEI ideology
8. Everyday, US deports people from within and those electing to visit the country, suddenly it is not as 'safe and secure' country for people on the wrong aisle of their ideology. Inbound tourism into US from Canada, Europe has been drying up.
Its a damn shame, this is no longer the America that the world previously respects.
And if you think this is TDS, that means you haven't woken up. Like Brexit, fixated at the immigration fix issue while see so many fronts compromised.
