US death toll tops 10k but is unlikely to reach the 200k that POTUS had prepared the markets for, he may have succeeded on that front but in terms of ending shutdown, we are not anywhere near it just looking at the map below, and POTUS cannot overrule State Governors decision to remain shut to protect their people.
The health vs economy debate will continue in US and domestically as well, but the failure of both US and Australia to undertake a national hard lockdown for just 1-2 months (if you want to do it, do it wholeheartedly not half measured ) suggests to me the likelihood of re-opening while the virus remains in the community for longer - which by implication means two things (1) our lives would not fully return to normal (people will shun crowded places, consumer spending won't return to normal as people would be careful not to go out to buy discretionary items) (2) masks would in the end become a more permanent short term feature in our daily public gear.

The company has provided a tutorial on how to make a face mask for baristas who do not have their own, using supplies available in stores.
Starbucks is also planning to source non-medical grade face masks and thermometers for optional temperature checks at all open locations. —
