Trump just said in a news conference that he has no intention of devaluing the US dollar, he says the US doesn't neeed to. Instead he says he wants the the Fed to drop interest rates by up to 100 basis points.
I actually think he's playing it smart here, he's got countries the world over worried and subsequently dropping interest rates, if he keeeps pushing the Fed they will eventually relent. Then, when he gets the cut he wants, he may well do a deal with China and boom, we have a rocketship in the markets.
Short term gain for long term gain? Not sure, but I'd be careful buying gold at the moment. Well it's ok to buy now if one is prepared to sell soon after. What's the long term prospects for gold... in 2 years? 5 years? 10 years? It's already at record highs
There's a lot of fear out there right now obviously, but on the flip side of that it means there's a hell of a lot of room for stocks to leap higher still
