The same sentiment leads me to never invest in predatory business models such as buy now / pay later, as well as staying well clear of any stocks involved with fossil fuels. I think for the various reasons you have already outlined, this is also sound financial practice, but there are other reasons to invest or not invest in particular companies or industries.
As far as the AFR and investigative journalism more broadly goes, I think our society is in a worse position now that traditional media, which undertook the vast majority of this valuable service, is severely on the ropes. I hope that digital media can eventually step up to the plate, however those are some big shoes to fill.
