This could trigger a collapse - ie banks going under leading to runs on the banks and general financial market panic.
Several cities in California have their entire city shopping areas closed down and empty. Lots of retail jobs lost, lots of property loans not getting paid, lots of devaluation of properties, lots of properties handed back to the bank worth less than the loans on the books.
