..of course it isn't, when 8 LGAs living under hard lockdown conditions while the rest of NSW thinks it does not apply to them. Only to likely see more LGAs added to the LGAs of concern list over time.

Social distancing still not good enough in Sydney

    Tom Burton

An (unreviewed) update of recent Sydney University modelling by complex systems professor Mikhail Prokopenko for data up to July 25 shows social distancing in Sydney sits at about 60 per cent, which is still too low to control the delta outbreak.
The modelling suggested 80 per cent of the community needs to be properly socially distancing if the Sydney outbreak is to be brought under control within a month.

The analysis suggests community compliance and not necessarily tougher measures is the key to bringing control to the outbreak.
In a copy of the Victorian response last year, 300 ADF personnel have been called in to supplement police checks of people in isolation.

In practical terms Prokopenko says that means if someone spent 10 hours a week doing the shopping, they now need to reduce to just one hour of shopping a week.

Restrictions were further tightened yesterday with masks now compulsory for outside in the eight most impacted local council areas. Outside mask mask wearing continues to be mandatory for all of Victoria.
