technology 1 could extract $1 million of value from it thus giving you a 5% royalty = $50,000

technology 2 could extract $10 million of value from it thus giving you a 5% royalty = $1,000,000

which technology provider would you side with?

but as pb said, cbm players can have 90% of the coal resources because 10% will give ucg many many decades (centuries?) of product.

it's not a situation that requires the winner to take all. there is room for everybody.
