You do realise that the Japanese government is a direct continuation of the same government that committed atrocities and warcrimes in the second world war and nationalists there continue to deny these warcrimes even happened? The current Japanese PM is the 64th Prime Minister. There is not a single Japanese politician who would admit that warcrimes were committed against Australian POWs.

However it seems you've missed the point. It's not about blame. Take the USA for example, institutions there continue to enjoy the rewards of millions of hours of unpaid slave labour. The wealth accrued was done so by exploitation and the expropriation of real human beings hard work. Work that they were not compensated for and never had the opportunity to build wealth for themselves and to pass that wealth on down to their children and so on. The descendants of these people are at an inherent disadvantage. You're naive to think that the actions of prior generations doesn't have an impact on the lives of people today.

Do you think it would be okay for Mecedez or Volkswagen to make off with billions of dollars in profits by fuelling the Nazi war effort even though that was 80 years ago? The foundation of those companies are built on profits gained by the deaths of millions of innocents, and their market share today only exists because of the infrastructure and technology gained during those wartime years. (FYI they have paid reparations)
