Most nations have subsidies of one kind or another, but these are usually for the benefit of the poor.
In Australia, the relatively rich poor can afford to subsidize those that wish to take advantage of NG.
There is, IMO, a danger that as more and more young people can't get onto the housing ladder, there will one day be a young voter backlash against NG. But I agree with Pasqual i.e. NG is here for good..period! at least for the foreseeable future. ===============
