Problem is not in immigration, but how immigration occurs.
First of all, I'm an immigrant myself. Came here to do a master degree which extended to a PhD. My wife fell in love with Aussie way of life and decided to stay.
After years of study in Australia, with employment (paying a lot of tax), English exams, finally I got my permanent residence and some years after the citizenship.
Anyone has any idea how many other immigrants I met who entered in Australia by marriage? And isn't hard to spot the fake ones. In few months they enter in the medicare, a few more in the centrelink...
A country that makes almost impossible for a doctor, engineer or dentist to immigrate but receive with wide open arms fake marriages will have trouble in the near future.
Seems crazy as an immigrant, but I agree with most (not all) points taken by Pauline.
