Hanrahan, some of us believe urgent action is required now to mitigate and reduce such terrible events in the future. If you're offended by discussing it then maybe such threads aren't for you. I might remind everyone that they can choose to not read my posts or even put me on ignore. I'm sure you won't be the first!
I think Australia's best interests are served by confronting the difficult subjects and not adopting a head in the sand approach, an approach which is likely, in my opinion, to result in more disasters and many more deaths in the future.
I might add, what I have posted here came straight out of the Sydney Morning Herald, its not something I made up or wrote myself. If you look around there are more and more news articles raising a similar theme.
