Dumb Queenslanders

Anna reckons they breed us tough north of the border but unfortuneately they also breed us dumb.

Brisbane has had 6 major floods in the last 190 years.
John Oxley reported debris very high up in trees in 1823,
there were floods in 1891 and 2 in 1893 (the biggest being 3.4m higher the current one but no dams) 1974 and 2011.

This calculates at a major flood event about every 32 years. Brisbane is built on a flood plain and we continue to build and generally forget this geographic truth.
Town planners, engineers, politicians, developers and the rest of us are culpably negligent. Our silence has been deafening.

Climate change can only make the situation worse.

Brisbane will flood again and again and again. Let's hope it is not again this year
