IVAN did not announce - this could be the reason? (from YAHOO site)
The Salinas News Is Actually Good News (3 Ratings) 17-Aug-06 08:35 pm (IMO) The reason is that Ivanhoe always thought zone 4, on which testing will next/soon commence, was the one which had the best chance to be commercially viable. Zone 4 is the one IVAN most wanted to be tested, but had to wait for Salinas Energy to do its thing in its selected order, because it is the operator.
For those who look favourably at the Salinas oil discovery, in which IVAN will eventually own 56.25%, the top zone (ZONE 4) has always been the one most promising!
The fact that testing in the zones which Ivanhoe never thought were comercailly viable is at an end and the most viable zone is now being tested is a welcome bit of news for those interested by the oil discovery in Salinas. If the market understands this, the price of IVAN should be stable or actually go up, without consideration of any of the other IVAN projects. (IMO)
