guitar, well played is such an amazing instrument - even just for chords for folk music - it seems easy to learn
Jut bear in mind - looks can be deceptive and everything can look easy until one tries and suddenly it may not be so - but it also depends on what level one wants to achieve. The following sheds a little light on the complexity of guitar chords:
https://acousticbridge.com/how-many-guitar-chords-are-there/
Excerpt:
Possible chord variations within one octave – 4083
If we exclude power chords (2 notes) from there – 4017
The playable chords out of these – 2341
Now it’s important to note that this is all in ONE octave. A guitar typically has four octaves...
There are chords playable on the guitar with an 'assumed root note' just to add a little more complexity though not sure whether these are included above. Easy as??
I taught a doctor for a while years ago - not long after starting, he commented that he was glad he was a gp as he thought he would starve with his family if he had to rely on guitar playing for his income. In some schools music is seen as a 'soft' option - not sure whether most musicians that choose to be an instrument player as a career would concur.
Just a tip - if you intend to learn a bit make sure you buy a reasonable quality instrument - better sound and easier on the fingers.
