Agreed. The West did go left when Nixon and Connally closed the gold window in '71.
This fateful move un-tethered the dollar from the stable base which gold is, and ushered
in the era of un-sound money.
We've gone a long way further down that very slippery slope since then, to the point
where MMT-modern monetary theory- is spoken of as a viable alternative system,
instead of the mad woman's breakfast which it is.
As this mad progression increases in pace we'll see further dilution of the purchasing power
of currencies, until hyper inflation unmasks the whole charade.
