I wouldn't bother wasting too much time on charting, unless youre trying to learn technical analysis for forex.
stocks is heavily on fundamentals, I've traded forex for over 5 years, and only basic charts seems to work on stocks, like channels, resistance, support, divergence, head and shoulders, flags etc.
the only thing the chart can tell you in stocks are key support and resistance levels, candle patterns and volume to see what the market psychology is doing. For example; dojis or shoot stars.
