I worked most of my 30+ year career in upstream oil and gas around the world with the last 15 year working in Exploration. I have seen the results for a significant number of wells that were flow tested (infact in my last job one of my roles was to edit the text of the internal well test announcments so that senior management got consistent reports).

Reservoir conditions in every field are different. Explorationists sometimes talk about analogues when they compare one field or basin against another, these analogues are imperfact. My point in quoting the one example from my past is that evey well in a frontier area delivers a surprise (but from experience I have to say even wells in more mature areas can deliver surprises both good and bad).

In Zimbabwe any suggestion that exploration is "like shooting fish in a barrel" just because of IVZ's last 2 wells is BS.
