I know alot of people think talk about this is wild speculation, but it is based on facts:

-The Algerian ambassador did state that there will be a joint venture investment (in the field, which can be interpreted different ways)

-Numerous Algerian media articles like this one (though granted, they could have written them based on the Ambassador's comments

If what the Ambassador and the articles is reporting is accurate (which it might not be), then plausible explanations could be:

-Sonatrach will be investing in the consortium for the gas to power plants

-Sonatrach will become a JV partner with Geo Associates

-Sonatrach will form a JV with the government to explore a different license area
