If the whole world were to move to renewables and electric vehicles, the amount of mining for "green" metals required would need to increase 10 fold and would likely cause an ecological catastrophe. Imagine the amount of tailings dam waste that would get produced. We seem to have a tunnel vision approach to the whole climate issue that's more political agenda driven without considering the impact on all the Earth's other natural systems.
