TWO POTENTIALLY KEY EVENTS!

EVENT 1) Zimbabwe has a 'new' Minister of Mines and Mining Development (since just yesterday). The fact that Minister Winston Chitando is actually returning to a post he held from 2017 to 2023, may well be an indication that the person who had replaced him post elections in 2018, was not up to the task! Clearly, Chitando is a more qualified person for the job, due to his long history as a Mining Executive (Anglo American, MIMOSA, etc), and as a past Vice President as well as President, of the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe.

EVENT 2) And then there is the Mutapa Investment Fund (MIF), which has been tasked with negotiating this deal with IVZ, on behalf of Government of Zimbabwe. Dr John Mangudya, former Governor of the RBZ, was due to finish his role at the RBZ on 30th of April 2024, and move over to Mutapa afterwards. In the end, Dr Mangudya finished early, about 3 weeks ago, but a report I saw said that he was going on holiday so I don't know if he has had a look at what's on his desk at Mutapa so far!

The beginning of May is with us: I hope therefore that we will soon see a flurry of activity on the PPSA front. Or rather, there should be no more excuses now.
