When I was last in S Africa, the topic of Zim came up and my cousin told me about the hypocrisy of the Americans and the English: They're diplomatic efforts and rhetoric stood in stark contrast to their back-room dealings with Mugabe, especially in respect to Anglo American PLC mining company mining diamonds in Zim. Apparently they were still raking in millions daily.

To this day, the State Dept still has not released a business advisory for Zimbabwe (i.e. be wary of doing business in Zim). Contrast this with the business advisory released for Uganda during last quarter (for their anti-LGBTIQ+ legislation). I don't know much about US investment in and US companies operating in Uganda, but I suppose this suggests that American commercial interests in Uganda is smaller than in Zim.
