I also have an IG CFD account. I use this to short term trade certain companies so I dont ruin my CG for my real shares and oppies. Like a hedge fund IG need to cover their arse so when they stop any more buys on a derivative it is because they are too exposed to the long side by their clients. This is a good sign. I can see on the client sentiment for IVZ heads that they have 100% buys today. They are possibly also anticipating a good result so don't want to further expose themselves to the upside.
They can do this at anytime on an instrment and often do esp. with smaller cap equities.
