Traditionally, Tuesday Melbourne Cup days have generally been low-volume days on the ASX. Further, add to that fact that we may see a rate rise on that day too...
With my trader's hat on, I hope we don't get a positive announcement on that day simply for the above reasons. If people are hoping for a lot more potential buyers to jump on, you'd want the announcement on any day of the week other than Tuesday. Volume is the name of the game here and a weak(er) response might not drive the share price up much.
With my investor's hat on, I wouldn't mind a Tuesday announcement as a "Discovery" announcement would allow me to buy more shares on the market on a relatively weak volume /price (?) day, with the long-term view of holding for capital appreciation as the basin is proved up.
