I know we've all been mocking the "witch doctor" who told them where to drill. But the tribal elders I'm sure pass down info over the years - like when the tsunamis hit and alot of tribes didn't get killed because their tribal elders told them if the tide goes out to get to higher land.The locals know where they can't dig wells because the water is too oily.

"We also saw for ourselves when we dug wells for water for our own consumption, but we realised we could not use water from certain areas for drinking purposes because it was oily. Experts came here and they concluded that the water was not fit for drinking because it had oil."
