Say they bought 50k now on market, then the share price goes up to 90 cents, then they’ll have to exercise another day 50k for the options in the money when there budget is only 50k in the first place.
so instead they wait to the options become worthless then the day after when options expire they put $50k on market at whatever the price is then (obviously below there option exercise price)
either scenario they have to drop 50k regardless. First scenario could be 100k if they bought now and share price rises hard
