Parties like this protect gun owners from those that want to see all guns banned not just semi autos. Some would ban airguns, DB shotguns, single shot hunting rifles. I don't think you can own a catapult in this country. The UK has tough gun laws but has had more than its fair share of islamic terrorist attacks. Guns aren't the problem. Gun laws just stop those elements of society that wish to do us harm from accessing guns. When they can't access guns they go to Hertz, Budget etc and get a white van or the supermarket and buy a meat cleaver. Parties like the Shooters and Fishers stand up for those who participate in blood sports. We have people who would ban all recreational fishing. We have people that think shooting game is cruel. They are usually the same people that go quiet when the conversation turns to halal slaughter. In NSW the S&F will be a country voice. I am sure that their potential voters have had a gut full of some of the nonsense going on in the Nationals party. There are legitimate reasons for the S&F Party that are probably of no interest to inner city Melbourne soy latte sipping types (not referring to you). I don't think your average country person is as absorbed by the left wing identity crap that fascinates the inner city Greens voter.

so country people in Australia vote for the ALp who hate all those things but want the power that those shooters and fishers votes provides? well that makes sense? Whatever happened after Port Arthur or did that just get forgotten about as it happened in Tasmania, the so called Apple isle, and everyone just moved on? You have to love the modern media? Christchurch is likely to be just another Port Arthur? like Columbine and Sandy Hook? A lot of reaction but no real action. not from the labor or the voters nothing.
