As to local councils. My understanding is that the government wanted Ballarat to fund the athlete's village . There is a particular site in town that has lay vacant for a long time due to contamination. The council said that they simply didn't have the money and also didn't want a half arsed project that they would have to fix later. lf l remember correctly it was a council person that called it out of the radio show l listened to. So maybe the local government in Torquay didn't have a say in the project ?
l watched Andrew Broad on lnsiders this morning . On the question of housing he proposed that a Dutton government would " hit " local councils and force rule change around housing projects . ln other words they would force local councils to allow new housing projects . Just like the Dud is threatening to do with nuclear power .
l don't think we want that either. The outcomes from that would be just as bad.
