He's made billions because he has successfully created a great business with a strong brand name. Knows more about financial markets than most of the keyboard warriors who laughingly question his skillset.
It's not to say he doesn't care about crap performance, but if you care to do some research on the Magellan website, the Global Fund is designed to generate a return of 9% a year not basing itself against a benchmark. He has been upfront about what the anticipated returns will be, if someone invests will Magellan without understanding this then that is their issue.
