The Gnarlyknots-1 oil exploration well to be drilled 300 kilometres offshore from Ceduna in the Great Australian Bight is set to be one of the most watched wells ever drilled in Australia.
And, at a cost of $50 million, it will also be one of the most expensive.
The well is due to be spudded next month by the state-of-the-art drill ship Glomar Jack Ryan and represents a huge bet by the Woodside-led consortium that the bight will become a new oil province.
