I'm not familiar with the the above expression (but am assuming it isn't a term of endearment), so I'm putting it down to some bane colloquialism associated with your foreign origins.
Good manners I'm afraid are sadly lacking in your hate filled existance.
Oh, BTW, re the "old chestnuts" you so decry, they may be old but are still fresh in the minds of those gallant seafarers aboard the USS Liberty who survived the murderous attack by their Israeli "allies".
"Fairweather friends" springs readilly to mind, rather apt wouldn't you say???
