The reason for the silence is the way the wallflowers here are registering their disgust for Chuckie's post.

Yep, deliberate flag burning is a "first class slap in the face" to any normal Australian...........real provocation.

If I was on a jury, the max penalty, whatever it is should apply.

And on top of that, if the flag burner is on the dole, I'd make him/her work in a flag factory.....making nothing but Australian flags.......for an equivalent time that it would have taken to use a regular weekly pay cheque in that industry, to offset the $11,000 proposed fine.

So, they would get the dole, nothing else.....and if say the weekly wage was $500 p.w in the flag industry......the flag burning dole bludger would have to work there.............. for 22 weeks.........but only on the Australian flags.

I hope the fine is more than $11 grand and I also hope the wage is less than $500 p.w.

And if they refuse to work...or muck around etc etc......no dole, until they pull their weight.
