FYI I run a small environmental consulting company in Canada that has been involved in the environmental assessment of mining projects for just over 20 years now, and my comment will be that the entire environmental assessment process is completely f**cked. NGOs and First Nations run the entire process now. It's basically become a third world system where if you don't bribe the right people...oh wait I mean "fund"....your project is doomed. I was just involved in the rejection of a mining application because of climate change issues...for a mine that would've been a major supplier of materials needed for green energy. But no, since they used diesel haul trucks and would need diesel generators during construction, but didn't adequately account for the effect they'd have on the entire world's climate in the opinion of environmental activists and one of four potentially impacted First Nations (the other three wanted the project), no permit for you. Don't count on any major project being approved in Canada till you actually see a copy of the approval and permits.

Funny the Canadians, present themselves as clean and green, then each year get out their clubs and bash tens of thousands of seals to death. I'm not what you would call a greenie but I find them a bit hypocritical.
