Crude oil rose for a second day on Monday on fears that violence in the Middle East could disrupt oil supplies. Also China's energy chief said that the country would look to take advantage of low oil prices to build reserves. The February Nymex contract rose by $US2.31 or 6.1 per cent to $US40.02 a barrel.
