going back to what Janet said for the moment ... I take serious issue with this line of thinking.

basically it comes down to this ...

we have a problem

There are 4783 different possible solutions/strategies to solve the problem

Team A proposes ONE solution which the MAJORITY of people think is manifestly unfair to the poorest among us.

result? ... the supporters of Team A, INSTEAD of analysing WHY the proposed solution is pure crap, they piss and moan NON-STOP about how Australian's are a bunch of weak willed idiots with no courage or conviction to solve serious issues

NO! ... Australian's understand problems and they understand the work required to fix problems ... if they don't like the current situation, it's because YOUR solution is a dogs breakfast and needs to be thrown out.
