Yesterday afternoon Janus Capital Group Inc. and Henderson Group plc announced their recommended merger of equals.
Janus rapidly offloaded the entirety of their 6% KAR holding earlier in the year. The KAR share price dropped 25% as a result, further exhibiting the uncertainty of the market in valuing KAR.
Henderson Group currently hold 7.5% of KAR shares. I am considering how the merger to Janus Henderson Global Investors will impact on what is now Henderson Group's holding of KAR.
I fear that Janus could influence Henderson to follow suit but can also see it going the other way, given Henderson Group is the larger of the two.
