TRAFFIC LIGHTS: Since it appears the Coast Guard plane did not have clearance to enter/cross the landing runway of the JAL Airbus, a 'simple' RED Traffic Light back-up system would have saved:-4 lives, the injuries sustained by the Coast Guard plane pilot and by some JAL Airbus passengers/crew, and of course the loss of two expensive aeroplanes.
HOWEVER: .. a positive note: what a masterful/wonderful execution of an evacuation was performed by the airline crew, undoubtedly supported by a cooperative and responsive cohort of passengers.
