Yes, I think you took my post the wrong way and I didn’t write it that clearly. Article 9 does not allow war but to allow them to change that they would have to use Article 96. They have thus extended 9 to allow them to defend others, as well as themselves. Which means they can join in with others, nominally US led, to defend others against aggression, nominally China.
